Privacy policy
Last updated September 11, 2026. Outgrow Studios, LLC.
This policy explains what Outgrow Studios, LLC (“Outgrow”, “we”, “us”) collects when you use the Outgrow app, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: almost everything stays on your phone, the coach is the one feature that needs a connection, and we never sell your data or show ads.
What stays on your device. Which habit you are quitting (a nicotine product, pornography, or alcohol), your quit date, product and cost details, cravings, slips, pledges, daily entries, reasons, notes, lesson progress, saved verses and coach conversation history are stored in a database on your device. The photo you can attach to your reasons stays on your device and is never uploaded. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. Your device’s own backups (iCloud or a computer) may include it, under Apple’s protection and your Apple ID, the same as any other app’s data.
Your questionnaire answers. When you set up the app we ask a few questions about you and your habit: your first name (or whatever you want to be called), your gender, the product you use most and how much, the age you first tried nicotine, how your first week went, how you cope with cravings, how stress plays in, your denomination, how your walk with God is going and whether temptation turns you from it, the symptoms you notice, what you want back, and whether you want reminders. They are kept on your device alone, so the app can tailor what it shows you, and for nothing else. They are never sent to our server, to the coach, to Anthropic, or to our analytics and crash reporting providers, and we cannot see them.
Anonymous identity. On first launch the app creates a random identifier that is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID. We use it to tie purchases to your device and to enforce the coach’s daily limits. If you later choose to sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, only if you allow it, your name and email. Signing in is optional and never required to use the app.
The coach. When you send a message to the coach, the message, the recent turns of that conversation, and a small, bucketed summary of your situation (for example how many days since your quit date, your product type, roughly how many slips this week) are sent to our server, which forwards them to Anthropic, PBC to generate a reply. We do not send your reasons, notes, entries or photos. Your conversation is stored on your device; our server keeps a count of messages per day for limits, not the content, except as needed briefly to produce the reply. Anthropic processes messages under its own commercial terms and does not use them to train its models.
Purchases. Subscriptions and their free trials are sold through Apple. Apple handles payment and sends us only what we need to know whether your subscription is active. We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions; it receives your anonymous identifier and purchase records (which plan, when it started, whether it is in a trial, when it renews or ended), not your payment details, which we never see. The app checks this record when it opens so it knows whether to let you in.
Analytics and crash reports. The app does not contain analytics or crash-reporting tools. We receive no event data, no usage data and no crash logs from your device. There are no advertising or attribution SDKs in the app.
Notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your device by the app. We do not run a notification server and nothing about your notifications leaves your phone.
What we do not do. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your data to build a profile of you for anyone else’s purposes.
Data retention. Data on your device stays until you delete it or the app. Purchase records are kept for as long as needed to honour your purchase and meet legal obligations. Analytics and crash data is kept in aggregate and deleted or anonymised on a rolling basis.
Your choices and rights. You can delete all of your data by deleting the app. You can turn notifications off in Settings or in iOS Settings. Depending on where you live (including the EU, UK and California) you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to some processing; to exercise them, write to us at the address below and we will respond within the time the law requires. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children. Outgrow is for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete what we can.
Security. Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security. Data in transit to our services is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, and you should keep your device protected with a passcode.
International transfers. Our services and providers are in the United States. If you use the app from elsewhere, your coach messages and purchase and analytics data are processed in the United States under this policy.
Changes. We may update this policy. If a change is material we will tell you in the app or by another reasonable means, and the date at the top will change.
